The essence of Indonesian Music is derived from the musical forms from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali where numerous tracks are recorded.

Indonesian Instruments

The traditional form of music of Java and Bali is Gamelan. Mettalophones, xylophones, drums, bamboo flutes and gongs are instruments exhaustively used in the musical compositions which suit the musical needs and wants of the people of Indonesia.

Indonesian Dances

The dance form adapted in Indonesia has greatly been inspired from Indian mythology. Indian folk dances also lay a lot of emphasis on Indian mythology and Indonesia also has a traditional form of dance which depicts episodes from Ramayana and Mahabharata. Indonesia is also characterized by court dances which are performed internationally but major dance forms are practiced at the local level. Since the last few years Saman from the region of North Sumatra has become popular and is often performed on television. Media plays a critical role in promoting various art forms.
