History of Indonesia
Europeans arrived in Indonesia in the year 1512. Their aim was purely to colonize and impose hegemony upon the Indonesians in order to monopolize their resources.
European Arrival
Francisco Serrao led the Portuguese traders in the country to plunder Indonesia of its valuable trade resources. They aimed to impose hegemony upon sources like cloves, nutmeg and pepper from Maluku. Later on the Dutch and British traders also came to Indonesia in order to get their share of the profit during the colonialist regime of the Europeans. In the year 1602 the Dutch had successfully established the Dutch East India Company.

Since, the colony of Indonesia was naturally endowed with abundant resources it became the target site of the Japanese who wished to establish colonial rule in Indonesia. Indonesia was rich in resources like rubber and oil.New Order
