The President of Indonesia is the head of state. He is also the commander in chief of the Armed Forces of Indonesia and is responsible for policy making and foreign affairs. The President also aims to maintain diplomatic relations on the international front to seek aid from other countries as and when required. The President appoints a council of ministers.In the 2009 election people directly voted for their president and vice president who were allowed to serve a maximum of two five year terms consecutively. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the current President of Indonesia.
