Introduction
Folk tradition incorporates music, martial art, singing, drama and dance. Indonesia still has to develop in the realm of visual arts as painting is not a popular art form. But Indonesia does boast certain immaculate and expressive Balinese paintings. These paintings are natural and natural landscape is depicted in an exotic way. Natural motifs of trees, dogs, ferns and humans are commonly noticed in Kenyah paintings.
Calligraphy, Paintings
Calligraphy is also a prevalent form of expression in art as the Islamic religion forbids natural descriptions. Modern painters deploy numerous themes and styles in order to make Indonesia's art forms stand at a par excellence pedestal with other countries. Sculpturing as an art form flourished in Indonesia during the 10th century. The temple of Borobodur is a famous sculpture in central Java.
Indonesian Literature
Literature is also an art form which is exhaustively promoted in Indonesia. The political order during the governance of Suharto had greatly suppressed the realm of literature. Pramoedya Ananta Toer and Chairil Anwar are most notable authors in Indonesia. Suharto had censored forms of literature and expression in order to maintain authoritative control over the citizens.
